A DIY 4G Wireless Cell Phone Signal Booster

Sometimes, cell phone signals can be unpredictable; one moment you are enjoying a strong phone connection, then another minute your phone calls get dropped due to weak or no signal at all leaving you hopeless. You can take control of your phone connections at home by either buying or making a DIY wireless cell phone signal booster. You don’t have to be an engineer to pull this off, all you need is to follow the steps below, and you will be enjoying a strong signal network in no time.

Things you need (readily available materials) to make a wireless cell phone signal booster.

  • An iron wire
  • A two-piece electric cable connector
  • A 30-meter TV cable
  • Wirecutter
  • 3-6 mm screwdriver
  • Pliers

Step One

Use the iron wire to build the antenna by straightening it. Then follow these steps:

  1. Bend the wire 4 cm at the corner at an angle of about 45 degrees and remove any paint it may have
  2. Measure 8 cm from the bend and turn it inwards at 90 degrees
  3. Measure another 9 cm from the bent part and bend it 90 degrees’ inwards
  4. From the curve, measure another 9 cm and bend it inwards at 90 degrees
  5. Again from the bend, measure 8 cm and turn it inwards at 90 degrees

The last curve should be at 45 degrees, and this is where you install the electric connector block; you do it on both ends and tighten the wire.

Step Two

In this step, you use the TV cable. You start by removing the plastic coating between 15 and 20 cm. This depends on the diameter of the center.  You then twist it. If you find it too long, you can trim it. Then fit it into the block and tighten. Next, remove the insulator because it’s the inner part that will be used to make the antenna.

Step Three

At the center of the antenna, twist the wire about five times. You can do this with a screwdriver. Leave it with a straight center core. This will give you 2G.

The wireless antenna is then mounted to the 3G antenna. Join the iron wire with the edge of the center core wire and tighten it. Then test it; however, if you want 4G, you have to place the unit outside.

Look for a strategic area place to the antenna, mostly where you have the most active cellphone signal in your house. This indoor unit is ready to use now, and you can start checking how your smartphone reacts.

If it has any casing, remove it. Some phone cases weaken your cell signal. Once you are sure everything is excellent, you can start making calls and see your phone responding to the homemade wireless cell phone signal booster.

A mobile phone antenna for a better connection is essential. As illustrated above, it is possible to build one at home by following these steps.

They are simple, and at the end of the day, you would have excellent cellphone coverage in your home. However, if this seems like too much work, you can always buy one from a reliable vendor.
